All Gone 2008 Michael Dupouy

BKRW (Black Rainbow Extraordinaire Magazine) sat down with Michael Dupouy to shoot the breeze about his book 'All Gone 2008'. 'All Gone' has become an iconic street culture publication as SlamxHype describes it "an almanac of sorts summing up the years within streetwear". Michael Dupouy discuss everything from the comeback brand of the year, Asics, to the Supreme x Kermit x Terry Richardson campaign. And if your at all interested in the photographic works of Terry Richardson check out Diddy's most recent blog.

The Hundreds Say Hello To Spring

The Hundreds are ushering in their 2009 Spring line tomorrow at both the LA and SF stores. Starting at 11 a.m. the Spring 2009 delivery will hit shelves. Here is a little preview courtesy of Bobby...

The Gotta is our plaid gone mad. Cotton, yarn-dyed, multi-plaid long-sleeve button-up flannel shirt. Note the concealed buttons, plus placket cover.

Couch. 360 gm cotton fleece crewneck sweatshirt, with a kangaroo pocket, water-based JAGS all-over-printed sleeves with a raglan cut.

The Tracy is a high-density, polyester, quilted down vest with a detachable hood. Lined with our own yarn-dyed tonal buffalo plaid and a subtle Adam Outline embroidery on the crest.

Richies chinos. More specifically, cotton calvary twill pants. Another chapter from the Angeleno workwear handbook, but modernized with a slim-fit.

The Cienega denim. Washed, standard fit, and a lighter 12.5oz cotton indigo ring denim as we start heading into the warmer months.

The Monica raw denim is selvedge, our slim-fit, and a 12 oz. ring cross-fire jean. Take note of the white contrast single-stitch that lines the pockets.. on a bonus tip, these ones break in and wear really nicely because of the grain.

So I was pretty close on Monday with the pants...looks good Ben and Bobby.

Nike SB Sock Release

You have to love the mastermind behind the Nike SB sock collection.  I don't know if they were designed with the hardcore sneaker head in mind or the poor college student who couldn't actually afford the shoe.  Either way it's quite captivating to see how a pair of shoes can be translated onto a sock.

The Nike SB sock has been graced by such classics as the Tiffany Dunks and Buck Dunks. And more recently the Bison Dunk.  The Bison Dunk costs in upwards of $375 USD these days on eBay.  However the sock will retail for around $11.95 at Nike SB accounts and start appearing in the next couple weeks.  If you can't wait for the sock is available on eBay now.

That Can't Be Good

Here is a prime example of when your action can come back to kick you in the ass. Last year a mysterious MTA tag appeared along the concrete banks of the Los Angeles river. The tag was roughly half a mile long and authorities estimate it took about 400 gallons of paint to create the three block letters that are equivalent to three stories high.

On Wednesday, 7 members of the MTA (Metro Transit Assassins) crew were arrested. The best part is these guys have been generating buzz in the graffiti world for several years and respected in the street art community. And they must be either making a fortune off their work or have 'second jobs' as the members of the MTA were arrested with guns and drugs. According to the Los Angeles County sheriff's officials one of the suspects drives a $60,000 BMW and another was rocking a diamond and ruby encrusted Metro logo valued at $27,000.

It is estimated that the removal of the tag will cost $3.7 million dollars as a small dam would have to be constructed to prevent run off into the LA river.

Wallstreewear.com Preview

Wallstreetwear.com mission statement reads something like this "designed to be a faster, easier and more cost effective selling and trading environment than any other service available today. It is the world's first streetwear marketplace, enabling users to network, buy, sell and trade anything encompassing this niche youth culture."

The site is currently in its private invitation only testing period. I was one of the lucky few provided an invitation to participate in the early stage of feedback and testing.

The site will rival the SoleCollector.com marketplace forum and competitors like eBay, Amazon and Kijiji. The site was founded by Rudy Sigua, Rick Cagadoc and Brandon Murio who have made San Francisco home base for the project.

The site is clean and easy to navigate through, the listings have no headings which is a nice feature and simply sort by brand. Like Kijiji you have a tier listings system to chose from. The Basic, Standard and Premium. Basic Listings are currently free (which may change) and allows the listing essentials. Standard allows for 4 pictures, keywords and tags to be applied to the listing and will run you about a dollar. Premium listings allow for 4 pictures and unlimited listings. I would imagine a majority of users will use basic as it is free and has essentially everything you would need unless this again chances when opened to the general public. The site allows you to chose a dollar amount for the item and the bid format is removed. In my opinion this eliminates the headaches of eBay and the sale percentage fees. My favourite component is the featured 'Trade' offer button on the listing. They recommend PayPal as payment method, which makes sense, but you have to factor in the PayPal will take 4% of the purchase price.

Overall the site works well. Still a little while before it opens to the general public and we will get a better idea of how everything works. This is just a hunch but I would go out on a limb and say that these guys will sell the site to eBay over the course of the next couple years. I don't see it being an extremely profitable site for them unless they develop their own payment system or develop mandatory listing fees (unless I am missing something). But the time and effort invested into the interface is sure to get eBays attention. eBay currently owns and operates just about every useful online site including Kijiji, PayPal, Skype, Shopping.com, Craig's List and StubHub. Look for them to acquire Wallstreetwear.com in the near future.

Up in Smoke

Phelps is likely the only athlete who can smoke week and keep his sponsorships. Phelps offered a public apology for his "regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment" after pictures of the star were published in a British tabloid that captured Phelps hitting the bong. Both Speedo and Swiss watch maker Omega have backed the superstar. Where was this compassion when Canadian Snowboarder Ross Regabliati was stripped of his gold medal for smoking pot? Lucky for Phelps that this picture was 3 months after the Beijing Games.

The Hundreds Pant and Beanie Preview?

The guys at Mighty Healthy snapped this pic of Bobby of the Hundreds recently. First off classic Hundreds style making me wish I had a little more disposable income (or any disposable income). Peek a Boo tee accented by what appears to be a revamped version of the '07 fall Phat reversible beanie and what looks similar to the '07 spring Chino pant in a new colorway similar to what was offered with the Sequel Cargo Short. Possibly a preview of whats to come out of the Hundreds camp.

P-Rod III Preview

Behold a sneak peak of the third installment of the Nike SB P-Rod III. You better believe it will have the comfort of Zoom Air technology making for a very skateable shoe. According to Nice Kicks the shoe is "done up in leather and suede in this colorway. It features a unique print that combines the Elephant print and Safari print into a new fresh look".

Dashed Dreams

My dreams of the Cards winning by 3 and Fitzgerald being named MVP were dashed by a last minute drive by the never faltering Big Ben Roethlisberger and company. Less than a minute on the clock saw, Superbowl MVP, Santonio Holmes make one of the most dramatic TD catches in Steeler history mounting a last minute comeback winning 27-23. The NFL dropped the ball on this one by not reviewing the fumble called with 7 seconds on the clock. Definetly should have been an incomplete pass.

On a side note Madden is still retarded "James Harrison runs like James Brown" what does that mean. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he meant Cleveland Browns past running back Jim Brown.

Commercials this year were bush league from what I have seen. Companies shelled out between $2.4 million and $3 million for each 30 second ad spot. E*Trade seems to lead the way so...
