Asher Roth x Kid Cudi Great Hangover Tour New York

When I heard that Universal label mates Cudi and Roth were set to tour together for The Great Hangover Tour I immediately checked the dates and chalked one up for the New York stop. Anticipation was killing me so when the date arrived better believe I was stoked. Arrived at 6:30 for the 7:00 doors and 8:00 show and much to my chagrin but expectations the line catapulted around the block. With that being said still managed a great spot on the floor 7 deep.

The show was opened by Bronx native Funkmaster Flex who got the crowd going only to be followed by, in my opinion, a very lackluster performance by 88 Keys. The beats were solid and his experience as a proven producer were evident but his lyrical content was drano.

Roth took stage first and provided one of the most entertaining sets I have ever seen. From rolling onto stage in a Escalade Power Wheels to the dancing Obama and Bush characters. I imagine if you were high it took you to another place. The antics were amusing and the performance was probably the best of the night. Especially when the girls were dancing on stage and he told the chick who was following him around staging trying to grind on him that she wasn't that hot. Highlight of the set was when Jim Jones joined Roth on stage for I Love College.

Cudi shut the show down in typical Cudi fashion playing some new tracks off of his upcoming disc including Heart of a Lion which is sure to be another hit. Better believe he gave us some heat from the 10.Deep mixtape. Capping off his show Cudi removed his signed footwear and toss into the crowd before exiting stage. No encore bummed out a lot of Maui Wowie fans but what can you do.

Wish I could take credit for these photos from last night but I opted to leave the camera at home. Photos courtesy of Village Slum.
