Cut and Paste is an annual design competition that started in NYC. It is the first design competition, to my understanding, that squares of designers in a live head to head tournament style battle consisting of 3 rounds of 15 minutes. Each round the designers are given a topic and then the round commences, all while onlookers gawk the big screen while you work. The event has three categories 2D, 3D and Motion Design. Today the event is comprised of 16 venues across the world. The event starts February 21 in Los Angeles and ends in Sydney in June. There will also be a Canadian stop this year in Toronto on March 14. The Global Championships will take place in NYC in June.

This years tournament's "Call for Competitors" has been extended. The North American deadline is January 23 and Europe/Asia/Pacific is February 20. The event is open to anyone and everyone. Simply fill out the application here and provide a url for portfolio work. The judges will narrow down the field and select applications will be invited to participate in test rounds. Aside from mad design skills you will also want to have nerves of steel.
